Yesterday, Kim and I were able to celebrate, once again, how God has given us three sons that continue to bring joy to our heart.

While Kim and I have done our best at parenting our boys, we would be the first to acknowledge our deficiencies. But, we have loved and prayed for our boys with all of our heart. And, we believe as a result, we have seen God graciously step in to bless our efforts.

While we ultimately celebrate the fact that our boys have embraced a love for the Lord, we love the moments when we see God blessing them … and us, as our hearts are warmed by what God is doing in their lives.

Yesterday morning, Sean texted Kim and me and said: “So I just got a college offer for football.”

When he got home, he told us that a football coach from a small college in Illinois drove to his high school to speak with him and another guy about playing football for their school. I’m not sure if he will take the offer but it was certainly good to receive that validation after he gave every ounce of his heart to his football team this past season.

Then…

I picked Joseph up after school and took him to Murray State. He met with an assistant professor for an hour to improve his skills on the baritone. After the hour of coaching, I drove to Murray State and brought him home. Soon, I received a kind e-mail from the assistant professor who bragged about some of Joseph’s skills.

Joseph has given his heart to being the best baritone player that he can be … even to the point of being a middle-schooler who marched with the high school marching band this past season.

Then…

We got a text from Zach last night. He included a couple of pictures. One of them showed a “96/100” for a Calculus 3 exam. The other showed his grade for that class as an “89.9%” but he said that professor would drop his lowest grade … meaning that Zach will probably make an A in Calculus 3.

He has given his heart to doing his best in school and his sophomore year in college is going well!

All Kim and I can say is that God has been so good to us! He has blessed us with three boys who have a zest for life and want to do their best in whatever they set their minds to do.

As Kim’s and my job is coming to an end as our oldest has left home and our second son may leave this coming summer, we are now sitting in the stands and watching them as they live life on their own. We are certain that God will continue to lavish His grace upon them as we pray for them and applaud them.

Kim and I pray that we will continue to have incredible joy as we watch them in the years to come.

3 John 4 “I have no greater joy than this: to hear that my children are walking in truth.”
