I generally use my website to write about Scripture or anything that I believe could help people in their understanding of the Christian walk. But, out of concern that it is becoming too impersonal, I will write a brief post to share some of the things that are taking place in our family right now.

Kim enjoying the art and architecture during our visit to Caesarea National Park, Israel (June 2018).

Kim is ready to bring her school year to a close. She loves her students but every teacher must feel the same thing as the kids get a little more rambunctious (they are getting ‘summer fever’).

That being said, she loves being the Art Teacher at North Marshall Middle School. She enjoys bringing out the creativity in her students. She also loves being a light in their world, some of whom may be a part of a horribly dysfunctional family.

Kim is a natural teacher. She excelled in an elementary school, a middle school, and then a K-8 school when we were in Florida. Now, she has done well for herself in the middle school scene again. While this isn’t the only thing she loves doing and is good at, her principals seem to really enjoy her. I am certainly proud of her!

Zach and his girlfriend, Dani. They’ve been dating for more than a year.

Zach is preparing to finish up his second year at Murray State University even though he has enough credits to be considered a junior.

In three weeks, the Navy is flying him to San Diego for an interview. In June, they will fly him to Washington, D.C.

Why all the fuss over Zach? Because Zach is incredible in science and math and has a very strong interest in nuclear engineering. So, he’s exploring that option with the Navy. There’s a very real possibility that he could end up being an officer in the Navy within a couple of years, after he earns his Bachelor’s Degree.

Sean’s recent visit to Fort Campbell.

Sean will graduate from high school in four weeks. Then, on June 18th, he flies to San Antonio where he will begin basic training at Lackland Air Force Base. He will finish basic training in mid-August and then begin his training in logistics at Lackland, which will take another month.

Then, he’ll fly back to Louisville where he will serve for a month with the Kentucky Air National Guard. He plans to begin his studies at Murray State University in the Spring semester where he plans to study architecture and business.

If anyone was born to be a leader, it’s Sean. I can’t wait to see how well he does after graduation!

A recent visit with my Dad who is in a long-term care facility with dementia.

Joseph will finish up the 8th grade in four weeks. His days were incredibly hectic when he was allowed to play with the high school marching band last Fall but things have slowed down now.

He’s doing well in school, has incredible tenacity and determination, and we can’t wait to see how he does as he continues to prepare for the launch in four years.

So, there you go. There’s a lot of stuff going on in the Ellis household right now. Kim and I are at the age when our boys are leaving home but we are so grateful for how God has blessed us. All three of our sons are worthy of our parental pride, they love the Lord, and seem to be endowed with character qualities that will help them to make a huge impact on this thing we call life. It’s going to be fun watching them!

3 John 4 (CSB): “I have no greater joy than this: to hear that my children are walking in truth.”
