March 30: “Enjoying God from Our Youth”

4 Minute Read

Today’s Bible Reading:

Deuteronomy 13:1-15:23
Luke 8:40-9:6
Psalm 71:1-24
Proverbs 12:5-7

Today’s Bible Verse(s):

Psalm 71:5-6 (NLT): “O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O Lord, from childhood. Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you!”

Reflections on Today’s Bible Verse(s):

The Psalmist spoke of his incredible plight. As he penned Psalm 71:5-6, he was an old man and was praying that God would not abandon him in his weakness. (God would never do such a thing!) He also acknowledged that His relationship with God went all the way back to his early childhood.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful! Wouldn’t it be great to have a lifetime of enjoying our God? Wouldn’t it be great to have been blessed with godly parents who illustrated the Gospel with their lives and then shared the wonderful message of the Gospel with us?

I hope that you have this experience. I hope you have the privilege of getting to know and enjoying your God since your childhood. If not, you can make that possible for your children. If your children have grown up and left home, then you can make it possible for your grandchildren and maybe even your great-grandchildren.

Being exposed to God early in life and being reared in a family where the Lord is loved and served essentially sets the tone for the rest of one’s life.

Regardless of our own experience, let’s commit to living out our faith for our descendants to see. Let’s commit to sharing the Gospel and teaching God’s Word to the next generations. If we do, lives will be changed and blessed because of it.

Psalm 71:5-6 (NLT): “O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O Lord, from childhood. Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you!”
