As of this morning, it looks as if we will have a category three hurricane (Milton) come over the top of us (central Florida) in a few days. It will probably have wind speeds of 115mph with gusts up to 140mph.
One track I saw put it smack dab over us at 2 AM on Thursday morning. Honestly, I wish it was coming over during the day. A daytime pass would allow us to see and keep tabs on what’s going on inside and outside the house.
We’re being told that we will almost certainly be without power for at least a few days. Fortunately, it will cool down a bit with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the low 70s.
We’re not in a flood zone so we’re going to ride this out. But the winds will almost certainly do some serious damage to our home’s shingles and siding. We’ve got a few more things to purchase at the store and then we feel like we’ll be as ready as we can be.
The hurricane could certainly make a turn but the models keep sending it our way.
As I’m able, I’ll try to document what it’s like riding this thing out.
