On Friday, July 7, I took off on a road trip to Denver Colorado. While there, we helped a new church with a soccer camp. Then, we headed over the Rockies, into Utah, down to the Grand Canyon, and then headed back home to Kentucky. Here are some pictures and a video of our adventure.

To break up the very long road trip from Murray, Kentucky to Denver, we looked for reasons to stop to stretch out legs. When we came upon the city of Ellis, Kansas, we simply had to stop. (Wonder if we’re related.)

It was an incredibly beautiful day and this Kansas wind farm provided us another place to stretch our legs.

After a week in Denver, we headed farther west over the Rockies. Yep, that’s snow in July.

If you’re gonna put a McDonald’s in ritzy Vail, Colorado, you have to dress it up a bit.

After passing over the Rockies, it became desolate quickly. We stopped to take a restroom break and took a picture.

We stopped at the Arches National Park. It was desolate … and breathtaking. I never realized how beautiful massive rock formations could be.

If you look behind us and to the left, you will see the massive arch that is probably the most photographed art formation in the park. In fact, if you Google, “Arches National Park,” almost certainly that arch will show up.

We arrived at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and took this picture only minutes after the boys saw it for the first time. Their smiles tell it all.

IMG_4403 The Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial. Most of our time here at this site was spent seriously reflecting on the magnitude of evil that took place here. But, we naturally smiled as our picture was about to be taken.
