As I was reading my Bible this morning, a verse “jumped off the page.” Let me share it with you and then convey some thoughts that came to mind.

Ephesians 4:1 (NLT): “Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.”

Friend, are you on your way to Heaven when you walk through death’s door? I certainly hope so.

Our part is easy. We just look to Jesus and trust in Him to make us right in God’s eyes. Our part was easy.

But God’s part required a gruesome death on a cross. Jesus’ death took place because you and I were guilty before a holy God and our guilt demanded a death sentence. Yet Jesus stepped in front of us and took our place – He died as our substitute.

So, when God called you to salvation, our part was easy but His part was deathly. And He did it for you and me.

So, how are you living in light of what Jesus did for you?

Are you living each of your days for yourself and treating His sacrifice (on your behalf) with contempt?

Or are you motivated by gratitude as you live for Him each of your days, the One who died for you? In other words, are you living in such a way that your life demonstrates the magnitude of what Jesus did for you?

Ephesians 4:1 (NLT): “Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.”
