June 30: “How to Maintain Your Innocence if Someone Ends up in Hell”

3 Minute Read

TODAY’S BIBLE READING:

2 Kings 17:1–18:12
Acts 20:1-38
Psalm 148:1-14
Proverbs 18:6-7

TODAY’S BIBLE VERSE(S):

Acts 20:26-27 (CSB): “Therefore I declare to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all of you, because I did not avoid declaring to you the whole plan of God.”

REFLECTIONS ON TODAY’S BIBLE VERSE(S):

If a house catches fire, the local firemen are bound to race to the scene to put it out. They should do all they can to contain and then shut down the fire. If the fire continues to rage and destroys property and takes lives, the firemen are guiltless as long as they did their duty and did all they could to put out the fire.

If a community in a third world country is being ravaged by disease, the medical personnel in the area are bound to enter that community in an attempt to eradicate the epidemic. If the epidemic rages on and people continue to die, the medical persons are guiltless as long as they did their duty and did all they could to eradicate the disease.

It is in this same way that we understand our Verses for Today. People are born sinners, on their way to Hell. Every single person desperately needs to embrace the Gospel. If people die and spend eternity in Hell, it shouldn’t be because we shirked our responsibility of sharing the Good News with them. If people around us spend eternity in Hell, we had better know that we did our duty of sharing the Gospel, and did all we could to get that Gospel to them.

Acts 20:26-27 (CSB): “Therefore I declare to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all of you, because I did not avoid declaring to you the whole plan of God.”

Conclusion

People all around us are either headed to Heaven or Hell. Have you done your duty by sharing Jesus with them? If they died today and spent eternity in Hell, will it be your fault because you didn’t share the Gospel with them?

Let’s be like the Apostle Paul! Let’s work to get the Gospel out in a multitude of ways to the masses. If someone spends eternity in Hell, let it not be our fault.

Acts 20:26-27 (CSB): “Therefore I declare to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all of you, because I did not avoid declaring to you the whole plan of God.”
