REFLECTIONS ON TODAY’S BIBLE VERSE(S):

In these three verses, we see how two basic categories of people respond to the Lord.

Let’s begin by considering the two categories.

First, we observe God’s “enemies” who are also called “the wicked.”

Second, we observe “the righteous.”

The first category are against God and demonstrate that heart-attitude by the fact that they disregard God’s Word and do not comply with it. This isn’t to say that they appear utterly evil. It simply points to the fact that their heart is separated from God and they are living for themselves, not Him.

The second category are for God and demonstrate that heart-attitude by “rejoicing before God” and obeying God’s Word (righteous). They love the Lord and, out of that love, they desire to do what He has told them to do in His Word.

The first category are what we call “lost” people. They are unsaved. They are on their way to Hell.

The second category are what we call “saved” people. They have been “born again” and have entered into relationship with the God who made them, paid their sin debt, and adopted them into His family.

Finally, notice how the two categories of people respond to God.

Psalm 68:1–3 (CSB): “God arises. His enemies scatter, and those who hate him flee from his presence. As smoke is blown away, so you blow them away. As wax melts before the fire, so the wicked are destroyed before God. But the righteous are glad; they rejoice before God and celebrate with joy.”

The first category “hate him” and do not want to be in His presence.

The second category are “glad” and “rejoice before God and celebrate with joy.”

Friend, eternity is where we get what we want.

If you don’t love Jesus in this life, you don’t desire to know Him more, then Hell is where that desire is ultimately satisfied. You won’t ever have to worry about being around Jesus again.

But, if in this life you love the Lord and want to know Him and enjoy Him, then Heaven is where that desire is ultimately satisfied. You will be with Him forever and will be glad, you will rejoice before your God and will celebrate with joy.

So, we had better be certain of the condition of our heart. Do we really have the desires that make it clear that we are headed for Heaven? If not, you can remedy that today by giving your life to Jesus.

Then, chase after Him. In Heaven, you’ll finally, ultimately catch Him.
