REFLECTIONS ON TODAY’S BIBLE VERSE(S):
In yesterday’s blog post, we looked at the Great White Throne Judgment. It was dark. It was negative. But it was necessary because it comes as a warning from a compassionate God.
Today, let’s look at the wonderful, exciting future home of the saved!
As we observed yesterday, there is coming a day when God will un-create everything He created in Genesis 1-2. The reason He is going to un-create everything is because it is cursed. We believe that when God told Adam that “the ground is cursed because of you” (Genesis 3:17), that meant that the farthest star was affected by Adam’s sin. Since nothing is salvageable, God is going to destroy it all.
Our Verse for Today says that God is going to create a brand new universe. The next and final universe will never be tainted by sin. It will be the eternal home of the saved forever.
Revelation 21:1 (CSB): “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.”
The future Heaven isn’t boring. We aren’t going to sit on the clouds and play harps all day. Instead, the future Heaven is a brand new earth, a brand new universe. We will have perfect, eternal bodies and will enjoy living on a new earth that isn’t corrupted by sin.
If I’ve piqued your interest in what the future Heaven will be like, then I would highly recommend that you buy the book, “Heaven,” by Randy Alcorn. It is thoroughly biblical and takes a look at what the future Heaven will be like. Personally, I would rank this book in my top 10 favorite books.
