Today’s Bible Reading:
Today’s Bible Verse(s):
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live. Everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’ ”
John 11:25-26 (CSB)
Reflections on Today’s Bible Verse(s):
The world is filled with anxious people right now. Why? While there are multiple reasons, including the troubling economic fallout, it’s the virus. People are afraid of contracting the coronavirus that is sickening and killing thousands of people around the world.
People are afraid of dying.
A Christian worldview, if we fully embrace it, will ward off this fear. As Christians, we believe that when we die, we are immediately ushered into the presence of Jesus to enjoy Him and Heaven forever. This is why we should not be afraid of dying. In fact, we should look forward to the time when God calls us home.
Philippians 1:23–24 (CSB): “I am torn between the two. I long to depart and be with Christ — which is far better — but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for your sake.”
Hebrews 11:9–10 (CSB): “By faith he (Abraham) stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, coheirs of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”
Revelation 22:20 (CSB): “He (Jesus) who testifies about these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!”
Friend, if you are a Jesus-follower, death (when God determines it to happen) is the doorway to our eternal home! So never fear it!
However, there are many other people around us who are not prepared for death, whenever it should overtake them. That’s why you and I should be ready at any moment to share the Gospel with others. People need to hear about what Jesus did for them. They need to hear how their trust in Him and His death on the cross can forgive them and make them right in God’s eyes.
Will you be open to telling others about Jesus during this time? I sure hope so.

Lord Jesus, I admit that my heart is anxious. These are uncharted waters that we are sailing in right now. But, I know You are on Your throne. You are reigning supremely. And I know that You are listening to my prayers. So, help me to keep my eyes on You and not the storm. Then, send me some lost soul so that I can share the life-changing Gospel with them. I want to tell others the wonderful news about how You can fit them for Heaven so that they never die spiritually. Amen.
