October 3: “Requesting God’s Help in Our Pursuit of Holiness”

2 Minute Read + Scripture readings

Today’s Bible Reading:

1 Kings 6
Ephesians 3
Ezekiel 36
Psalms 86

Today’s Bible Verse(s):

Psalm 86:11 (CSB): “Teach me your way, LORD, and I will live by your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear your name.”

Reflections on Today’s Bible Verse(s):

Read back over the verse that I have chosen for today.

Can you hear the Psalmist craving to know and understand God’s Word? Can you hear his committed resolve to obey what he reads and understands? Can you hear his desire to have a life of integrity, where the holiness of his heart matches the perceived holiness of his actions?

Friend, we need this resolve!

Will you consider writing this verse on an index card, take it with you today, and periodically look at it, reflecting on its truth, and craving to have the same sentiments as the Psalmist.

I hope you will.

Lord Jesus, I don’t want to play games with You. I want to read, understand, and obey Your Word. I also crave to have a heart that is sincere about being undivided. I don’t want to appear to be holy while having a heart that is far from holy. I desire to be a person of integrity who genuinely desires to know and obey and enjoy You with my whole being. Please grant this request. Amen.
