4 Minute Read
Be Still
To the best of your ability, get rid of all distractions. Take a couple of minutes to breathe deeply, to quiet yourself in the Lord’s presence. Then, prayerfully ask the Lord to speak to you in this time and let Him know that you will be listening and will make whatever adjustments He will reveal to you.
Today’s Bible Reading:
Jeremiah 19:1–21:14
1 Thessalonians 5:4-28
Psalm 82:1-8
Proverbs 25:9-10
Listen to the Lord
Slowly and reflectively read the following verses and listen to what God will say to you through them. Then, consider writing down any insights He reveals to you.
Jeremiah 20:9 (NLT): “But if I say I’ll never mention the LORD or speak in his name, his word burns in my heart like a fire. It’s like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can’t do it!”
Reflections from Scripture:
Go back and reread Jeremiah 20:9.
I really mean it. Go back and reread it but read it slowly and reflectively. Let the Lord speak to your heart as your read.
Jeremiah 20:9 (NLT): “But if I say I’ll never mention the LORD or speak in his name, his word burns in my heart like a fire. It’s like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can’t do it!”
Does your love for the Lord cause you to want to talk about Him to others? For example, if you tried not to talk about Him to your family members, fellow students, co-workers, neighbors, or any of the other people in your life, would it wear you out trying to keep quiet?
Spend Time in Prayer
Lord Jesus, give us a love and passion for You like the prophet Jeremiah had. Lot us enjoy You so much that we can’t keep quiet. I pray this in Your Name, Amen.
