2 Minute Read
Prepare Your Heart
To the best of your ability, get rid of all distractions. Take a few minutes to breathe deeply and quiet yourself in the Lord’s presence. Then, ask the Lord to speak to you in this time. Let Him know that you will listen and make whatever adjustments He will reveal to you.
Read God’s Word
A Verse for Today
Slowly and reflectively read the following verse(s) and listen to what God will say to you through His written Word. Consider writing down any insights He reveals to you.
Luke 24:27 (CSB): “Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted for them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures.”
Reflecting on God’s Word
I love Luke 24:27! I’ve referred to it often.
Why?
Because I believe it tells us something that most Christians don’t realize.
What does it tell us?
Jesus is all over the pages of the Old Testament!
Sometimes, Jesus showed up in bodily form (multiple times in Genesis alone). Sometimes, events or rituals acted as a shadow pointing to the reality of Jesus. Sometimes, there were prophecies that could only be met in Him.
I could only wish to have been one of those disciples on the road to Emmaus as Jesus spoke to them from all the Scriptures about the things that pointed to Him!
Luke 24:27 (CSB): “Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted for them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures.”
So, as you read through the Old Testament, look for Jesus! He’s there!
Spend Time in Prayer
- Ask God to help you see more of what the Old Testament tells us about Jesus.
- Ask God to help you come to know and understand Him more, even as you learn about Him in the Old Testament.
