According to the National Parks website, “Majestic figures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, surrounded by the beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota, tell the story of the birth, growth, development, and preservation of this country. From the history of the first inhabitants to the diversity of America today, Mount Rushmore brings visitors, face-to-face with the rich heritage we all share.”

This place is designed to make people ponder those who have gone before us and given us the liberties and way of life we currently enjoy.

It was also neat to see people of other nationalities, speaking different languages, come to this site and show it the respect it’s due.

Yes, that is a man on the top of Teddy Roosevelt’s head. Apparently, there was some sort of construction/repairs going on.
