What is a Christian’s basis for valuing all human life? What about the life of the mentally handicap? The unborn? The unproductive elderly? Those of different skin colors and nationalities? Those who sin differently than we do?
We believe that every single human being from the time of conception is saturated with worth because we are created in the image of the unfathomable, awe-inspiring, infinite God:
Genesis 1:26-27 (NLT) “Then God said, ‘Let us make man (mankind) in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
Sure, you can believe in evolution and that there is no God. However, you end up with the obvious conclusion that every single human life is a cosmic accident and has no substantive basis for worth.
I’m going with God’s Word!
