One reason to take your walk with Jesus seriously

Imagine for a moment that a plague is ravaging our nation. People are dying left and right.

But that doesn’t bother you nearly as much as the fact that your family and friends have the disease and are in the process of dying.

pexels-photo-1389104But there is a cure. Medicine has been developed and produced that, if ingested, will cure the person who takes it 100% of the time.

So you take it. Very soon, you feel its effects. Your fever is leaving. Your body is no longer aching like it was. You’re getting well!

But for some strange reason, you choose to act as if it’s not working. Your friends watch. Your children watch. What they observe is that your actions demonstrate that the pill has not worked on you – so they see no need in taking the pill for themselves.

Because you took the pill, you survived. Because you acted like the pill did not work, your friends and family died.

Now let’s change the scenario…

Plenty of people have trusted in Jesus Christ and received the gift of eternal life. Their sins have been forgiven. They have entered into a right relationship with God. They are on their way to Heaven.

But for some strange reason, they choose not to act like it made any difference in their life. Their actions demonstrate to their family and friends that the Gospel really had no impact on them.

So their family and friends do not trust in Jesus Christ for eternal life. They eventually die and spend eternity in Hell while the believer who failed to demonstrate how the Gospel changed their life spends eternity in Heaven.

How cruel is that!? How unjust?!

Friend, if you have received the gift of eternal life, you owe it to those who are watching you to show that it has changed you. You owe it to them to demonstrate that the Gospel is the remedy that has cured you and can cure them, too.

I want to encourage you today to take your walk with Jesus seriously. Go public with your faith.

Because whether you know it or not, it’s already public. People are watching.
