REFLECTIONS ON TODAY’S BIBLE VERSE(S):
Psalm 134 is as heart-warming as it is short.
In verse 1, the Psalmist called all servants of the Lord who worshiped at night in the Tabernacle to come and bless the Lord with him. He was enjoying his time with the Lord and wanted others to join him.
In verse 2, the Psalmist gave some instruction on what the servants of the Lord were to do as they blessed the Lord. They were to raise their hands to the holy place. As a sign of surrender, they were to lift up their hands as they looked toward the place where God’s presence abided with His people.
In verse 3, the Psalmist said that the worshipers weren’t the only ones doing the blessing. The Lord would bless them from Zion. Further, His blessings could be incredibly rewarding – He might bless them in profound ways. After all, He made the Heavens and the Earth so nothing is too difficult for Him.
So, in this Psalm, we are called to worship the Lord. But, we also realize that as we bless the Lord, the Lord will bless us. Why, then, wouldn’t we worship Him?
