REFLECTIONS ON TODAY’S BIBLE VERSE(S):
Our Verse for Today makes things very easy. The Lord, through His prophet Micah, told us what the Lord desired from us.
Of course, we can never limit our understanding of how we are to live to one verse. Yet, this verse is certainly something that we could write on an index card and carry with us today. If we prayerfully work to comply with it, we will be living in a way that is good and doing what the Lord requires.
Micah 6:8 (CSB): “Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the LORD requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.”
“Act justly”
Exalt fairness and stand up for the oppressed. Wrongs must be punished and righteousness must be celebrated.
“Love faithfulness”
Focusing solely on justice can make us harsh. So, the Lord wants us to add to that the attribute of kindness. Be gentle and caring with others. Help and serve others.
“Walk humbly with (our) God”
The previous two attributes focused on life around us. Now, we are told to focus on the relationship above us.
We are to walk with our God which simply means that we are to live the moments of our day with a conscious awareness of His presence as we depend upon Him. We are inviting Him into the moments of our days. But, we do so humbly. We acknowledge His supremacy and submit to His authority over us.
So, friend, why not reflect on this verse today? Ask God to help you live out the truths found within it.
