Reflections on Today’s Bible Verse(s):

You, my friend, were made for a relationship with Almighty God. The One who is so infinitely powerful that He simply spoke the universe into existence wants you to know Him and to enjoy Him.

In fact, Jesus made it abundantly clear that getting saved is an invitation into the divine relationship when He said: “This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent—Jesus Christ” (John 17:3).

In Genesis 5:22,24, we see that a man named Enoch “walked with God.” That means that he lived each day and every moment with a conscious awareness that God was with him. That means that his prayers were frequent. That means that he knew that he was never, ever alone. And it also means, among many other things, that he was enjoying every moment of the day in relationship with his God.

When we listen to some of the heroes of the faith, we realize that there is something absolutely wonderful about knowing and enjoying our God.

“Then Moses said, ‘Please, let me see your glory.'” (Exodus 33:18)

“More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord… My goal is to know him…” (Philippians 3:8, 10).

I visited the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago. As I stood on the edge of a cliff, my heart raced. I was filled with fear as I peered over the edge at the valley hundreds of feet below but my mind was captivated by the rugged beauty and immensity of that place.

Friend, God made us to enjoy what is so much bigger than us. He made us to enjoy even those things that strike fear in our hearts. If we are honest, we like to feel small in the presence of what is so much bigger and powerful than us.

Ultimately, the happiness we feel in such situations is found in a relationship with our immense, infinitely powerful God. As we read the Bible and come to know Him more, we feel so small and helpless in His presence … and we enjoy it!

Enoch discovered this as he walked with God. Moses understood this as he pleaded to experience God’s glory. Paul understood this as he made it his life’s goal to know Jesus more. Why not join these men in making it your aim to walk with and enjoy your God today!

Lord Jesus, thank you for saving me so that I can enter into a wonderfully satisfying relationship with You. As I spend reflective time in Your Word, please open up its truths so that I can know you more. And then enable me to live each moment of my days with You. I want to enjoy you. Amen.
