It's "Leap Day!" I will resume my reading plan and reflections tomorrow.
I was talking with a pastor a few days ago who recently visited Israel.
I asked him, “What was your favorite biblical location?”
He said: “Caesarea Philippi.”
I immediately replied: “Mine, too!”
That city means very little to someone who has never visited Israel. But, to those who have traveled to the Holy Land, they realize that the Bible literally comes to life(!) when you visit the places where Jesus walked and talked. They realize that visiting places like Caesarea Philippi makes Jesus’ words jump off the page when He told Peter, “On this rock I will build my church.” He was pointing to the bedrock that a temple was built upon with a cave nearby.
That’s Powerful! … if you’ve been there.
But, most Christians will never get to visit Israel. Either because of a lack of funds or a lack of time, they cannot experience the sites where Jesus walked and talked.
If you want an inexpensive resource that helps brings these stories to life, consider purchasing, “Taking a Trip to Israel.” (FREE on KindleUnlimited and only $2.99 for a Kindle download)
Here’s what people are saying about it…
Kindle Customer wrote: “I felt like I was there visiting with a good friend who was sharing their experience with just me. The word pictures were just as descriptive as the actual pictures and videos. I loved the scripture that was included.”
lwatkins wrote: “This is a very easy book to read. Well thought out with a narrative and scripture reference of each place visited. Lots of pictures and videos to bring it all to life. Highly recommended.”
Manh Dang, MD wrote: “I really enjoyed this book by Matt Ellis! It details the author’s trip to Israel in the summer of 2018. The book is written in a simple but honest and endearing manner. It has a lot of photos and even links to videos! What a treat! The author also takes time to associate each site that he and his wife visited on this trip with biblical accounts and scriptures. I feel like physically being there just reading the book. This book is a gem and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about traveling to Israel, or who has traveled there, or who is just interested in the amazing biblical stories and the beautiful sites where they occurred in Israel.”
In this book, there are separate chapters on the following (and many more) locations:
- Joppa
- Mount Carmel / Valley of Megiddo
- Nazareth
- Cana of Galilee
- Syria
- Caesarea Philippi
- Mount of Beatitudes
- Capernaum
- Sea of Galilee
- Mount of Olives / Garden of Gethsemane
- Temple Mount
- Golgotha & the Garden Tomb
- Western Wall
- Via Dolorosa
- Bethlehem
- En Gedi
- Masada
- Gehenna
In virtually every chapter that highlights a specific location, there are relevant Bible passages, pictures, links to videos, and my own personal reflections. I wanted to make the reader feel like they took the trip with me and I’m so glad that the feedback from readers says that I accomplished that objective.
