Today’s Bible Reading:
Today’s Bible Verse(s):
“I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance.”
Luke 15:7 (CSB)
Reflections on Today’s Bible Verse(s):
Friend, I know what it’s like to sin. I struggle with sin every day, whether it is an action, a word, a thought, a motive, an attitude, or simply an omission of something I should have done.
I also know what it’s like to feel like I’ve disappointed my Heavenly Father. I know what it’s like to wonder if He will truly forgive me. I know what it’s like to wonder if, after forgiving me, He will keep my offense in the forefront of His mind. I know what the Bible says about how God will respond – I’m simply talking about how I feel.
Well, the Bible is clear when it talks about the seriousness of sin. It is clear when it tells us how much God loathes sin.
But our verse for today tells us that when we come to God in sincere repentance (turning from sin and turning to Him), Heaven celebrates. Our God gets a smile on His face when we, who have stumbled into sin, come back and ask for forgiveness and desire not to do the grievous thing again.
Luke 15:7 (CSB): “I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance.”

Lord Jesus, thank You so much for paying my sin debt on the cross. Further, thank You for having an attitude of celebration when I turn from sin and turn back to You in submission and obedience. Even though I don’t deserve such grace, it is within Your nature to lavish such grace upon me. So, thank You! Amen.
