Reflections on Today’s Bible Verse(s):
There is a time for action and there is a time to be still and not do anything.
There are times when it would be foolish to simply sit back and wait for God to act. A farmer would be a fool to pray for a good crop unless he sowed some seed.
There are also times when wisdom calls us to wait quietly and patiently, without acting, In those situations, it is often the case that we have exhausted our options of acting and we can do no more.
Once again, this is like the farmer. He plows, he plants, … and then he sits and waits for God to do His part.
So, my friend, are you experiencing undesirable circumstances? If so, is there something that you can do about those circumstances? Then do them. You should certainly pray but you cannot and should not pray for God to do something that you yourself can do. Just as a farmer cannot and should not expect to pray for God to plant his field, so we should not ask God to do what we should do.
But, if you have done what can be done, then pray … and wait on the Lord.
Exodus 14:14 (CSB): “The Lord will fight for you, and you must be quiet.”

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your watchful eye over me. I know that there are times when I must do certain things in the circumstances in which I find myself. But, there will be times when the most appropriate thing for me to do is sit and wait for You to move on my behalf. Please give me the wisdom to know when either of these two responses is appropriate. Amen.
