Partial script for the July 27th episode of the “Enjoying the Bible” podcast.

Welcome to the July 27th episode of the “Enjoying the Bible” podcast. I’m Matt Ellis, and I’m the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Polk City, Florida.

Today’s reading is Psalm 43-45. But since there is no New Testament reading today, I’d like to simply pray for you.

If you have questions about anything in the Old Testament reading assignment, please email me at I may answer it on the next podcast.

On a personal note, it is good to be back. My wife, youngest son, and I spent some time with family over the past week and a half. Kim and I also spent a few days in the mountains of eastern Tennessee doing a lot of reading and seeking the Lord. But it’s great to be back and settling into a ministry routine again.

As we setline back into this podcast, I want to forewarn you that while I intend to finish the year strong doing the audio edition of “Enjoying the Bible,” there may be times when I simply give bullet points on my website. As you can imagine, writing a daily script can be laborious and take a lot of time. This will become very difficult to maintain with some projects ahead of me in the second part of this year. So, if you are someone who reads the scripts, I ask in advance for your forgiveness if I abbreviate them in the not-too-distant future.

Lord Jesus, we come to You thanking You for Your overwhelming kindness and grace toward us. Not only have You saved those of us who are trusting in You for eternal life, You also lavish good things upon us each day. Even as we sometimes go through really dark valleys, we realize that You are walking through those valleys with us.

So, Lord, help us to keep our eyes on You. Help us to seek You with all of our hearts. Help us find happiness in You as we love, serve, and worship You. You are certainly worthy of all of this and more.

We pray this in Your Name, Jesus, Amen.
