To forgiven by the Lord is wonderful. But it’s even better if we live in such a way that we rarely have to seek His forgiveness. It’s especially wonderful if we have no consequences of disobedience.
While forgiveness might seem like the hardest thing we could do, it really is for a own good. Unforgiveness, no matter how justified we may feel in holding onto the hurt, only leads to bad things.
Relationship conflict will happen. But for Christians, there is no option to allow unforgiveness and unrepentance to remain. We must work toward reconciliation.
While condemning sinners might make us appear holy, it actually does the opposite. A mature Jesus-follower will hate the sin but reach out in love and humility to help the sinner.
Jesus when we think we have disappointed the Lord so much that He has disowned us, we discover that He is still reaching out to pull us back into relationship with Him.
So many people live with perpetual guilt. As far as our relationship with the Lord is concerned, we never have to live in that guilt-ridden state. First John 1:9 gives us the recipe for forgiveness and cleansing.
Do you get easily agitated with others? Then the problem is a heart that isn’t obeying the Lord’s command to love. Loving others can bring calm to our hearts.
If we continue to feel guilt after confessing our sin to the Lord, then maybe the breakthrough we crave can be found in confessing our sin to a trusted Jesus-follower.
