We know we should worship the Lord, if for no other reason than that the Bible commands it. Yet, we often don’t desire to worship Him. What can we do to kindle the desire within us to worship our God?
While we must strive to be a nation with fair laws that are obeyed, we must also not allow those laws to diminish our view of others. As Christians, we should see every single person as an image-bearer of God.
If we would focus on the two rules that Jesus prioritized, it would do at least two things: 1) it would make obedience to all the other rules easier, and 2) it would cultivate happiness in others and in ourselves.
People typically love their parents and children a lot. Yet, Jesus tells us that we must love Him more than those special people. What does obedience look like?
Following Jesus means that we will often do what is right but does not come natural. The way we respond to those that set themselves against us is a case in point.
When Jesus said that the greatest command was to love God with all of our being, He was simply calling us to respond to God’s love that was already coming our way. Let’s spend time this year going deeper into that relationship.

Do you get easily agitated with others? Then the problem is a heart that isn’t obeying the Lord’s command to love. Loving others can bring calm to our hearts.
