Hebrews 8:12 (CSB) “For I will forgive their wrongdoing, and I will never again remember their sins.”

This verse provides us with a wonderful truth. When God forgives us for the sins we confess and forsake, He says that He “will never again remember” them.

Isn’t that wonderful?!

Friend, if you have asked God’s forgiveness and continue to deal with guilt, God isn’t the one doing that. He is holding out complete forgiveness to you as a gift. You simply need to take it and embrace it.

But, there is also a theological matter in the above verse that needs to be pointed out. God says that “I will never again remember their sins.”

Notice that He doesn’t say that He will forget what we did. Instead, He says that He chooses not to remember what we did.

There are songs that some Christians sing that talk about “the sea of God’s forgetfulness” or other things like that. Friend, God doesn’t forget. Forgetfulness is a weakness and God has no weaknesses.

God never, ever forgets anything. Instead, He makes the conscious choice not to remember our sins.

Forgetting out sins would point to some weakness in God.

Choosing not to remember our confessed sins points to the gracious heart of our God who loves us deeply and chooses to never, ever hold our forgiven offenses against us again.

Friend, we serve an awesome God who loves us more than we could ever possibly imagine. Be available to tell someone about Him today.
