Reflections on Today’s Bible Verse(s):

The verse that I’ve chosen for today is called the Davidic Covenant. It’s the promise that God initially made to king David.

There are a couple of things that are extra special about this promise. First, it was unconditional. No matter what David or the people of Israel did, God promised that He was going to fulfill this covenant.

The second thing that was extra special about this promise was that it pointed to Jesus and His earthly reign. While king David’s reign eventually ended, and while one of David’s descendants, Jeconiah, was the last king of Judah to reign before going into Babylonian exile, and since there has been no king in Israel since then, this Covenant points to Jesus.

When is it going to be fulfilled? Just read Revelation 20:1-4. Those verses speak of a partial fulfillment of the covenant when Jesus will reign for 1000 years on this earth.

Then, read Revelation 21-22. Those chapters speak of the ultimate and final fulfillment of the Davidic covenant. Jesus will reign on a brand new earth forever and ever. That’s what heaven will be – a new earth with Jesus as the King of kings and Lord of all lords.

Friend, I don’t know about you but I can’t wait! This world has gone crazy and I’m looking forward to loving, serving, and enjoying my God forever and ever on a brand new earth. The Bible tells us that there will be no sin there. No consequences. Only righteousness and joy forever!

If you do not know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, if you’ve never asked Him to forgive you of your sinfulness and surrendered your life to Him, I would ask you to consider doing that very soon. It could very well be that Jesus is coming back soon. Don’t wait until it’s too late!

Lord Jesus, thank You that no matter what it is that I’m going through right now, since I am trusting in You as my Lord and Savior, I know that the best is yet to come. I can’t wait to enjoy living under Your compassionate reign on a brand new earth. I can’t wait! Amen.
