A Florida Spring-Fed River and Manatees

In May 2011, I took a trip down the Weekie Wachee River in a kayak. The Weekie Wachee is a spring fed river that travels 7.4 miles westward and flows into the Gulf of Mexico. But, the kayak ride ends at the 5.5 mile mark. If you don’t paddle and just decide to float down the river, it will be one of the most relaxing 3 hour boat rides you’ll ever take.

On that day, I created a 6 1/2 minute video of beautiful scenery with the sounds of Florida’s backwoods. The end of the video (at the 5:35 minute mark) shows an encounter I had with about 9 manatees.
